Nova Memorial - Digital Memorial Book

At the core of NovaMemorial’s vision was a simple but powerful challenge - no existing platform provided a unified experience for creating a detailed family tree and managing personalized memorial pages for the different members. Moreover, there were no European products combining this digital presence with a physical QR plate placed on a headstone.

The client needed a clean, intuitive design and an accessible product for users of all ages. From a technical standpoint, the challenge was to build a custom family tree system, a step-by-step onboarding experience, a secure subscription flow, and an e-commerce feature for ordering plates, all while ensuring emotional sensitivity and seamless UX.

Our work began by diving into the core problem, discussing the client's vision, and mapping out the essential functionality. We designed a unique, memorable, and brand-consistent interface that is both emotionally respectful and user-friendly.

On the development side, we custom-built the family tree feature from scratch; no existing library met the specific requirements of the project. We implemented a multi-step onboarding flow to guide users through creating their pages, setting privacy preferences, and linking family members. Stripe was integrated for managing subscription payments and for the small online store, which enables users to purchase QR plates with secure checkout. We also developed a built-in QR code scanner for fast access to memorial pages.

Alongside the platform, we created a branded landing page to communicate the product’s mission and value to new users.

After finalizing the design and development, we deployed the platform and closely monitored its launch in a production environment. Post-launch, we continued to support the client with improvements and technical maintenance.
